Tips for Communicating with Deaf or Hard of Hearing Children:

• Get the person’s attention before speaking.
• Be sure to face the person you’re speaking with.
• Avoid background noise.
• Speak clearly at adequate volume and moderate speed.
• Pointing, natural gestures and facial expressions can help.
• Learn sign language
