The summer camp experience is one that every child should have the chance to enjoy. Variety – The Children’s Charity was pleased to partner with Adventure Camp 2016 by providing funding that helped kids with special needs benefit from activities that foster development, while having fun and triumphing through challenges in a safe and inclusive camp environment. Adventure Camp planning has officially started!! Since we have had some inquiries regarding when registration will be open to families, we have decided to open a pre-registration for families.

Payment is NOT due at pre-registration. Mid-June, we will send out the official registration link for families to pay for their pre-registration.

If your family requires a specific cabin, or one with a bathroom, using pre-registration option will allow us to ensure every families needs are met.

April 2 – Quesnel ASL – FLYER

ASL (American Sign Language) workshops are for anyone who interacts with deaf or hard of hearing persons in their lives. This workshop will teach you useful words and phrases for everyday life in a fun, interactive setting. Children are invited to attend with their families – this is a family workshop!!

Event Schedule :

  • 12:00 – Event Start
  • 12:00 – 12:30 – Lunch will be provided 
  • 12:30 – 1:00 – Families will get rentals and children ready for skiing/ski lesson 
  • Note: Children are welcome to attend cross country ski lessons while parents attend the Annual General Meeting and Technology Workshop.

  • 1:30 – 3:00 – Workshop with Elissa D. Robb from WIDHH 
  • 3:00 – 4:00 – Families are welcome to enjoy some cross-country skiing!!  

Workshop Info: 

Workshop with Elissa D. Robb, M.Sc., Aud (C ), RAUD, RHIP – Registered Audiologist and Hearing Instrument Practitioner from WIDHH. This workshop will include an introduction to hearing loss and a review of the current technology for hearing aids and assistive listening devices.  In addition, a few new apps and informative blogs will be shared. Next, the post-secondary transition process for students with hearing loss will be briefly touched upon. And last, the workshop will conclude with a “hands on” opportunity to try out some of the new devices and technology.

FALL Workshop with Debra Russell

Topic:  Great Kids and Great Schools 

Meaningfully including the Deaf learner

This workshop will explore what meaningful inclusion can mean for a deaf learner and identify some of the ways that schools and families can ensure their child’s social, emotional and academic needs are met in a mediated interpreted education. This topic will be great for everyone; Families, teachers, EA’s and Professionals.

We have the whole afternoon planned for your children while the adults enjoy Debra’s workshop. There will be mid-afternoon snacks for both the adults and children. We ALSO have a gift for everyone who attends this workshops. AND after the workshop, the families can take a look around the gallery together and enjoy the remainder of the day at Exploration Place.
